Marine Biotechnology Products (MBP) is a subsidiary of IBL, which holds a 65% share in the company. MBP specialises in the manufacture of fishmeal and fish oil made from the by-products of the tuna processing industry in Mauritius. Fishmeal is very protein-rich and used in the production of animal feed, particularly in beekeeping, pig rearing and aquaculture.
Cervonic, the Food Product division of the operation produces top quality cold extracted fish oils which are sold to the food industry. MBP produces 15,000 tons of fishmeal and 1,300 tons of crude oil. Cervonic produces 170 tonnes of superior quality cold pressed tuna oil.
MBP/Cervonic are important companies in the overall development and recognition of the marine products’ industry in Mauritius.
They manufacture top quality tuna-based products which help to raise the profile of an industry which is becoming more and more important on the global market. MBP/Cervonic products are mainly produced for the export market.
