The HOLOPLUS project seeks to grow the Galician sea cucumber sector, developing innovative solutions that respond to the new needs arising from the first contact with the Asian market. For this, it is structured in 3 activities:
SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES
The product to be marketed will be thoroughly investigated in order to achieve an integrated management from both an environmental and economic point of view, in order to obtain an industrial commercialization of sustainable sea cucumber in the short and long term.
Expected results:
Increase of biological and environmental knowledge of the captured resource. Possible bases for a future Sustainable Crop Sea Exploitation Plan.
Specific requirements of the Asian market for the sale of sea cucumber in different formats and valuation of the final product in that market
Development of a platform for the optimal commercial management of the resource.
DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND STANDARDIZATION OF PRODUCTION AND CONDITIONING ON BOARD.
Development and implementation of a standardized processing system on board sea cucumber to facilitate its commercialization in frozen format.
Expected results:
Study of the spaces and machinery available on board for processing and storage of sea cucumber
Obtaining a viable on-board processing line that allows both obtaining a frozen final product for direct sale to the Asian market or as an intermediate product that is processed on land (drying / dehydrating plant).
Development of standard processes and protocols for production, packaging, storage and unloading of the product, covering the unification of formats, labeling, unloading processes and storage on land.
Construction of prototypes of the different standardized elements.
DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT AND STANDARDIZATION OF PRODUCTION AND CONDITIONING OF PROCESSING LINE IN LAND.
Design, development and construction of a prototype drying / dewatering plant on land for the valuation of the resource for sale to the Asian market, where this format finds a differentiated demand as a quality end product.
Expected results:
Selection of technologies and processes for drying / dehydrating sea cucumber
Design of the drying / dehydrated plant.
Construction of prototypes of the design and validation of its operation.
Validation of the multifunctionality of the drying / dehydrating plant on land.
